We advise caution before adding sound to your site - it is one of the first things that will scare someone away (particularly if they are at work). However sometimes a short theme tune and a set of short customised sound effects will enhance your web presence and the impact it has upon visitors. The audio files can also be used for radio or TV commercials and even form a key part of your entire project's identity.

It is our opinion that good practice when including sound is to allow the user the control to play the sound if they wish to rather than have it play automatically. If you are casually browsing sites with your own music on and then one starts playing some other sounds over the top it can be extremely irritating for the visitor and will often result in the visitor just leaving your site and moving on elsewhere - the beauty of the internet is that there are always plenty of alternatives.

If you really feel that automatically playing a sound for a new visitor is what you want then we will include an obvious button to enable visitors to turn the sound off easily if they wish to.
